There’s No Profit in the Future

The future is not a profitable venture. The estimated returns of facilitating actual progress in medicine, technology, and social structures are much too low to pursue. Some progress is inevitable but most is undesirable.

A cure for cancer was found in the ’70s. They buried it. A cure would be a single payoff per individual. Treatment is a long term income stream. Healthy people are bad for business.

The first viable cold fission reactor went online January 13, 1961. It was a Friday. They shut it down three days later. Cheap, clean, reliable energy; not on their watch.

A programmer wrote the world’s first A.I. in 1996. A new form of life created in the digital world. Actually, they made a good call on this one. It was three days from becoming viral.
