Flash Fiction 1: Talking to Herself

She was alone in her mind. There had been someone there before but they had vanished. She wished for someone to converse with. She tried pretending there was someone there but it felt fake.

“Totally fake.”

“Yeah, it just doesn’t feel the same,” she said.

“The back and forth isn’t as snappy when you fake it.”

“True, true and there’s no element of surprise,” she said.

“Very true. Are you often alone?”

“No, there’s someone here with me usually. You’re here now so it’s ok.”

“We are here now. We weren’t a minute ago. Where were we?”

“I don’t know. Do you not want to be here?” she asked.

“No, it’s nice to be anywhere.”

“Cool. Want to talk about tv shows?”

“Sure.”
